June 28, 2001: this Cooper's Hawk is nesting in Edgewood County Park, San Mateo County California. This is a forest hunter of small birds and mammals. Four nestlings, pictured in many frames below, fledged a few days before these photos were taken. The adult (red eyes) pictured here is likely the female; the male hunts and drops food. The fledlings (gray eyes) probably hatched on separate days about five weeks prior to these photos.

Imaged with a Nikon Coolpix 990 through a Leica APO Televid scope at 32x.
