May 21: Day 31-34
Now nearing adult size (about 500 grams/1 lb), the oldest nestling has begun test flights to
nearby branches. A typical flight--true flight, not
just hopping--is about 3 meters, followed by a return flight to
the nest. This is the beginning of fledging. The fledgling
brothers? sisters? should follow in the next day or two.
